Jose Mourinho ‘has personally spoken to Joao Cancelo’ over potential £51m transfer to Tottenham from Man City

Jose Mourinho has reportedly spoken to Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo a few potential move to Tottenham.

The Portugal international has made only 13 starts altogether competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side since his £60million move from Juventus last summer.

Just six of these starts have are available the Premier League and Guardiola seemingly prefers Kyle Walker at right-back in his starting XI.

Spanish outlet El Desmarque report that Mourinho has spoken to his fellow countryman in an attempt to prise him to north London this month.

It is believed the 25-year-old wants more playing time given his struggles at City, and Mourinho would be happy make him a first-team regular at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The report also states that Barcelona are keen on signing the full-back, but Camp Nou chiefs will got to act swiftly as Spurs are said to be ‘close’ to agreeing a £51.2m affect Man City.

In Spurs’ last two outings Mourinho has deployed youngster Japhet Tanganga on the proper side of defence, and therefore the 20-year-old has impressed with two accomplished performances.

Nonetheless, Mourinho wants to seal a deal for Cancelo to supply competition for Tangana and Serge Aurier as he aims to guide Spurs up the table within the last half of the season.
